I’ve served here for only a short time—two years and counting—which is a drop in the bucket of Christ’s Church’s history. This congregation has been around for 40 years. I’ve read our history, listened to stories, and am amazed by the accounts of people who have given so much of themselves to and through this church.

God established a strong foundation of people here, people who have laughed, cried, and been there for each other, people who have been generous with their time, talents, and resources for him. And if God’s been this good to us in our first 40 years—building a community and working through it— then what does he have in mind for us 10, 20, even 40 more years from now?

I don’t think he intends for us simply to fill space and do mediocre work. As we connect with each other and follow his lead, I think we can make all the difference in the world, and that’s not just an expression. Lives—locally and globally—will change as people encounter God in worship with us, grow in spiritual knowledge and understanding, and take God to others, serving and sharing his story.
